Monique Pariat,Director-General of the Directorate-General Migration and Home Affairs, came to speak to the members of the Cercle des européens.
Monique Pariat presented the main lines of the Commission's Project on immigration and asylum, which tends to establish solidarity between the Member States as a principle despite the divergence of conceptions.
The measures include the processing of asylum applications at the border. In addition, the relaunch of readmission agreements is a key element of the Plan.
On the fight against terrorism, Monique Pariat referred to a recent report on serious crime showing a worrying situation in the context of Covid-19. A debate was opened during which participants deplored an excessive limitation of the methods used to fight criminality.
